The Golden Gate Company, LLC plans and coordinates relocations for companies. Our services includes move management, vendor procurement, and space planning. We’ve been in business since 2003. Our clients include McKinsey & Company, Grant Thornton, San Jose State University, San Francisco State University and Hotwire (see below for a more expanded client list).
Our People:

Rachel Walls
Founder and President
Rachel Walls has over 10 years experience working with companies in transition. She launched The Golden Gate Company in 2003 which has experience working with Fortune 1000 companies and large government organizations. Rachel’s experience includes working with companies that are downsizing, expanding and moving to a new location. She’s a member of the International Facilities Manager Association, Bay Area Relocation Resources and Business Network International. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah.
David Fleser
Vice President, Business Development
David Fleser has over 25 years experience working within the moving industry. His experience includes spending 6 years as Vice President and General Manager at Cor-O-Van. David has a strong knowledge of the moving process and has a vast network within the moving community. David is also President of the Facilities, Architects & Real Estate Executive’s Golf Group and a member of the International Facilities Manager Association. His responsibilities for The Golden Gate Company include securing new partnerships and finding new business opportunities.
Kris Krause
Senior Project Manager
Kris Krause has over 26 years experience project managing relocations. She has been working for The Golden Gate Company since 2006 and has handled moves for McKinsey & Company, Grant Thornton, Hotwire, Amyris Biotechnologies, Adept Technology, San Jose State University, and San Francisco State University. She has a vast range of experience including working with companies in the high-tech, bio-tech, pharmaceutical, educational, law and accounting sectors. Her areas of expertise include: office reconfigurations, building-to-building and interoffice moves, build-out procedures, and vendor procurement. Previous to working for the Golden Gate Company, she worked for San Jose State University for over 23 years where she managed multiple relocations for them.
Chris Carlson
Project Manager
Chris Carlson has 25 years experience project managing relocations. She has been working for The Golden Gate Company since 2006 and has handled moves for Envision Schools, Demandbase, Professional Healthcare at Home, and Domestic Cheese. Her areas of expertise include: office reconfigurations, building-to-building and interoffice moves, build-out procedures, and vendor procurement. Previous to working for the Golden Gate Company, she worked for San Jose State University for over 20 years where she managed multiple relocations for them.
Melanie Welker
Accountant and Bookkeeper
Melanie Welker has over 15 years experience in accounting. She’s an independent consultant who has been working with The Golden Gate Company since its inception in 2003. Prior to starting her firm, The MDW, Melanie was the controller for several multi-location restaurants both in the bay area and across the country. The MDW, since its inception has been a rapidly growing firm with clients ranging from restaurants, retail, wholesale, service and non-profit industries.
